Create for a Cause
Crafting a multi-layered hybrid experience in partnership with Microsoft and Best Buy
Microsoft and Best Buy wanted to increase awareness around the latest version of the Microsoft Surface and foot traffic in-store at Best Buy. Designit was tasked to develop a campaign platform to do both.
A flexible system built for play
Our strategy and creative practices teamed up to surface a unique way to engage potential customers – through purposeful gamification. We built a campaign and experience that allowed the audience to create their own designs to fit on the cover of the Surface Pro and submit as an entry to be featured as a design available globally.
While our client stakeholders loved the idea, they wanted users to be able to engage both in-store and on the go. So, our interface included the ability to start and complete the process of designing the cover seamlessly, no matter the venue.
Creating change one screen at a time
The designs were solicited in such a way that encouraged participants to create for the cause about which they felt most passionate, and for every entry, money was provided to the Best Buy Teen Tech Center, so purpose was realized on multiple fronts. Tens of thousands or participants engaged with the platform, increasing both in-store and website traffic for Best Buy.
